CTD arrests Extortionist siblings in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
To prevent increasing incidents of extortion in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Anti-Terrorism Department has intensified operations against extortion groups. Yesterday, a major operation was conducted in Peshawar where three extortionists including a woman were arrested.
Two extortionists belong to Badh Bir Peshawar, while one accomplice is Afghan national operating for banned organization.
According to preliminary details, arrested extortionists had demanded two crore rupees from Gulbahar and threw hand grenades twice when they did not pay. Accused demanded 2 million rupees and 1 crore rupees separately from two more citizens and also attacked them with hand grenades several times to threaten them.
CTD officer told media that 'Lady Ayesha Bibi and her brother Yar Muhammad both belong to the banned organization and have been involved in various extortion incidents. Woman also has two children who have been handed over to her husband.
According to CTD officials, woman used to do recce of target and pass information to fellow extortionists.
Further investigation of accused is ongoing and more important revelations are expected.
