A fire-fighting operation is underway in the shopping center in Peshawars Sadar area, which is being supervised by Corps Commander Peshawar Lt. Gen. Hasan Azhar Hayat.
Rescue officials say that despite the passage of more than 6 hours since the fire started in Mobile Plaza, the fire has not been controlled, hundreds of shops have been burnt.
According to rescue officials, 26 fire brigade vehicles and 130 fire fighters are engaged in extinguishing the fire.
Fire brigade vehicles from Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda and Khyber are also present at the spot to extinguish the fire.
Fire has engulfed the entire plaza, 2 storied building has about 200 shops, fire has caused a loss of crores of rupees.
On the other hand, Director General Rescue 1122 has said that 70% of the fire in Mobile Plaza in Sadar Bazar has been brought under control.
He says that the fire fighters are trying to extinguish the fire completely; the intensity of fire in Mobile Plaza has reduced.
Director General Rescue 1122 also says that the fire flares up again due to the explosion of batteries kept in the plaza.
A fire broke out due to gas leakage in a house of Kakshal No. 4 area of Peshawar, 2 people got burnt and injured.
According to rescue sources, both the injured have been shifted to the hospital for medical assistance.
