Kashmiris across the world, including Pakistan, will celebrate Maqbool Butts Martyrdom Day
Kashmiris living on both sides of the Line of Control and around the world are celebrating Maqbool Butts Martyrdom Day today with the determination to continue their struggle for independence from India.
The well-known Kashmiri leader Shaheed Muhammad Maqbool Butt was born in 1938 in Terhgam area of Kupwara district of the occupied state of Jammu and Kashmir. On February 11, 1984, this brave leader was martyred by hanging in Tihar Jail, New Delhi in a false case.
To avoid the popularity of Shaheed Maqbool Butt and the reaction of the people in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian authorities refused to hand over his body to the heirs, India buried Shaheed Maqbool Butt in the yard of Tihar Jail.
Despite the continuous protests of people in Occupied Kashmir and the insistence of international human rights organizations, the rulers of New Delhi have not yet handed over the remains of Shaheed Maqbool Butt to his heirs.
Despite the increasing Indian atrocities in the occupied state of Jammu and Kashmir, the Kashmiri people have sacrificed more than one lakh lives to keep the candle of freedom lit with the blood of martyr Maqbool Butt.
