Pakistan stress UN Security Council to put pressure on Afghanistan to prevent the outlawed TTP
Pakistan has asked the UN Security Council to put pressure on Afghanistan to prevent the outlawed TTP from carrying out attacks in Pakistan, demanding the Afghan interim government to sever ties with the outlawed TTP.
Pakistans Permanent Representative Munir Akram said that the financial resources of the outlawed TTP in Afghanistan should be identified, and an investigation should be made as to how the outlawed TTP got modern military equipment.
In the Security Council meeting, the United Nations also expressed concern over the presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan.
Report says that special Representative for Afghanistan Roza Otanbaifa said that Pakistan is also concerned about the banned TTP, it will be difficult to recognize the Taliban unless they fulfill their promises,.
He says that the Taliban should end the illegal restrictions on women and respect human rights.
The meeting of the Security Council was held to decide on the extension of the UN mission to Afghanistan.
The UN representative said in his report that there are differences within Afghanistans interim government, while incidents of unrest in Afghanistan have increased by 36 percent between November and January.
