Election Commission postponed Senate elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The Election Commission postponed the Senate elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the request of the opposition.
Polling is going on in the National, Punjab and Sindh Assembly for the elections for the 30 vacant seats of the Upper House of the Parliament i.e. the Senate, while the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was a mess.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the polling for Senate elections could not start at the appointed time at 9 am, while the arrangements for the Senate elections were complete and the election staff was also present.
The opposition members in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly had submitted a request to postpone the Senate elections.
The request to postpone the elections was submitted by Ahmed Karim Kundi of the opposition to the Provincial Election Commissioner, in which the position was taken that our 25 members have not been sworn in yet, so the election should be postponed.
The Provincial Election Commissioner had contacted the Chief Election Commissioner on the oppositions request, while Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur had also reached the Provincial Assembly where he consulted the members regarding the Senate elections.
