Khyber: IGFC inaugurated the restoration work of famous Pashto poet amir Hamza Baba Shinwaris shrine and library.
Frontier Corps North has successfully completed the restoration of the mausoleum and library of famous Pashto poet "Amir Hamza Baba Shinwari" in Khyber district.
IGFC North Major General Noor Wali Khan attended as Chief Guest.
Major General Noor Wali Khan paid homage to the famous Pashto poet Amir Hamza Baba Shinwari and recited Fatiha.
The respected poets present in this event eloquently presented the life and services of Amir Hamza Baba Shinwari through their poetry while local artists also enlivened the event by displaying their talents.
Addressing the ceremony, Major General Noor Wali Khan highlighted the key role of Amir Hamza Baba Shinwari in promoting Pashto literature, culture and love for the region.
He said that the purpose of renovating the shrine and rehabilitating the library is to pay tribute to Hamza Baba and to create awareness about the wonderful life of Hamza Baba in the coming generation.
Born in 1907 in Landi Kotal area of Khyber district, Amir Hamza Baba Shinwari got the title of Pashto Ghazal Baba and Sufi saint.
His poetry played an important role in energizing the youth during the freedom movement.
Following the establishment of Pakistan, he continued to enrich the cultural scene through his contribution to Radio Pakistan.
