Pakistan is one of the largest contributors to the United Nations peacekeeping mission, ISPR
The International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers is being celebrated today, including in Pakistan.
In this regard, in the statement issued by the Public Relations Department of the Pakistan Army, ISPR, it has been said that Pakistan is one of the most supportive countries in the United Nations peacekeeping mission.
In tribute to the brave men and women who have served in UN peacekeeping missions, around 3,000 peacekeepers are currently serving, the ISPR statement said.
According to ISPR, peacekeepers are serving in Congo, South Sudan, Cyprus, Western Sahara and Somalia, a total of 181 Pakistani peacekeepers have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
The spokesperson said that Pakistans participation in the UN peacekeeping mission is proof of our commitment to global peace and security.
Pakistani peacekeeping forces will continue to serve for the betterment of local communities in disaster areas.
ISPR has said that Pakistan supports the measures to improve the safety and security of UN peacekeepers.
It should be noted that the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers (International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers) is celebrated around the world on May 29 every year.
On this occasion, the peace efforts of other countries involved in the peace mission, including Pakistan, are highly appreciated by the United Nations.
