Decision to start anti-polio campaign in 9 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
After the environmental samples of polio in three districts of Swabi, Swat and Kohat of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa came positive, the health department has decided to start an anti-polio campaign in 9 districts.
A 5-day anti-polio campaign will start from Monday in 9 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar.
During the campaign, more than 35 lakh children have been targeted for vaccination against polio.
Reports say that more than 8 lakh children in Peshawar will be given the polio vaccine.
During the campaign, 18,000 teams were formed, while 26,000 polio personnel were also deployed for the security of polio workers.
The government says that a strategy has been devised to convince the recalcitrant parents.
Children in Afghan refugee camps will also be given polio vaccines.
No case of polio has been reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa so far this year
