Pakistani doctors removed a tumor from the eye of a 7-month-old Afghan Child
The doctors at Al-Shafa Eye Trust Hospital in Rawalpindi removed a cancerous tumor from the eye of a seven-month-old Afghan baby.
Reports says that Experts are investigating why the cancer cells in the babys eye grew so quickly at birth.
The child brought from Afghanistan had a tumor in his left eye.
At birth, the cancerous part was 40 cm in length and 25 cm in width.
The weight of this tumor was 400 grams. Blood was also flowing from the eye.
The tumor has been completely removed from the childs eye.
After seven months, the artificial eye will be implanted.
If the operation was not done in time, the cancer could have spread to the other eye.
It was a difficult operation. The childs parents agreed for this operation through counseling.
Assistant Professor Dr. Murtaza was the head of the team that operated on the eye of the Afghan child, while it also included Dr. Huda, Dr. Zara and Dr. Ali Raza.
