Customs seizes 20 trucks loaded with sacks of sugar, smuggling fails
Pakistan Customs seized thousands of sacks of sugar from 20 trucks which were being smuggled in two separate operations in a day.
A massive crackdown against sugar smuggling is underway by the staff of the Field Enforcement Unit of Pakistan Customs.
According to Balochistan Customs spokesman Dr Atta Barich, the operation was carried out at the Balochistan-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border on the instructions of the Chief Collector and Collector Enforcement.
The spokesman said that 8,206 sacks of sugar were seized by stopping a large caravan of 15 trucks coming from Danasar Dera Ismail Khan.
These Chinese were being sent without a permit to balochistan province and later to the border areas. Customs also had police cooperation in this operation.
The value of goods and vehicles seized during the operations is about Rs 70 0 million, vehicles used for Chinese smuggling have also been seized.
According to the spokesman, Quetta Customs has seized 1637.22 metric tons of sugar during month of July and August
