Initiation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement project for environmental protection in the province
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement Project has been launched to make five major cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa green, to use sanitation and waste for useful purposes, and to purify sewage water and make it usable. Aid and loan of 97 billion rupees has been provided by Asian Development Bank and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank for the project.
Phase one of the project will involve replacement of all water supply pipes, cleaning, maintenance and reconstruction of water tanks at five divisional headquarters in Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan, Abbottabad and Swat. The project includes cities where water and sanitation companies are present as all these projects will be handed over to the companies after construction.
