Reports about sugar shortage in the province are baseless: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Director Food Department
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Department Director Yasir Hussain denied reports of sugar shortage in the province and said there was no crisis in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Talking to the media, he said that the annual sugar requirement of the province is 979,000 metric tons, about 190,000 metric tons of sugar are available in the province while 171,000 metric tons of sugar is stocked in sugar mills.
He said that 15,000 to 20,000 metric tons of sugar is available with dealers of different districts, the next crushing season will start in November, and so there is no shortage of sugar.
He said that 466,000 metric tons of sugar comes from Punjab and Sindh in the form of open trade
