Torkham border: Propaganda about sugar smuggling exposed
Propaganda on social media about smuggling of sugar in containers via the Torkham border has been exposed.
On April 18, several trucks loaded with goods were on their way to Afghanistan via Torkham border, when they were buried under debris after a landslide in area.
Following incident, propaganda was hatched about smuggling of sugar in trucks loaded with cement.
Sources said that three of damaged containers labeled with sugar were waiting to cross Pak-Afghan border after scanning? Sugar was being exported to Afghanistan with permission of government of Pakistan through private trucks and they had nothing to do with National Logistic Cell (NLC).
All agencies, including Customs and FIA, are performing their responsibilities efficiently at Torkham border and trucks and containers are allowed to pass only after inspection.
Several trucks and containers loaded with goods were buried under debris after a landslide at Torkham Export Road in Khyber district of KP, earlier this month, killing at least eight drivers on spot.
Following incident, rescue teams along with Pakistan Army conducted relief operation and retrieved bodies and injured from site.
