Three soldiers were martyred while 7 killed in skirmishes with terrorists in Lakki Marwat
Three Pakistan Army soldiers embraced martyrdom during skirmishes with terrorists in Amir Kalam and Tajbi Khel areas of district Lakki Marwat, militarys media wing said on Friday.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated incident resulted in killing of three terrorists including terrorist commander Musa Khan.
“However, during an intense exchange of fire, Naib Subedar Taj Mir, 40, resident of District Nowshera, Havaldar Zakir Ahmed, 38, resident of District Abbottabad and Sepoy Abid Hussain, 29, resident of District DI Khan having fought gallantly embraced martyrdom,” ISPR added.
In another attack by terrorists in area, a motorcycle-borne suicide bomber exploded near a security forces post in Lakki Marwat followed by a fierce gunfight between army troops and terrorists.
As a result, four terrorists were killed by security forces, and weapons and ammunition were also recovered from killed terrorists.
Military furthered that security forces while fighting gallantly, repulsed three attacks by terrorists on different locations within a span of short time in the district.
It added that sanitisation of areas is being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists found in area.
“Security forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” press release stated.
Earlier this week, two Pakistan Army soldiers embraced martyrdom during an exchange of fire with terrorists in Tirah Valley, Khyber District.
According to militarys media wing, exchange took place between troops and terrorists and resulted in killing of two militants.
On April 25, director-general of ISPR lauded security forces for their counter-terrorism efforts in his maiden press conference in Islamabad.
Maj-Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry had also paid tribute to 137 officers and men who were martyred and 117 officers and men who were injured during operations since January.
“Entire nation pays tribute to these brave sons and their families, who sacrificed their precious lives for peace and security of the country,” he had said.
“No one should doubt resolve, commitment and capabilities of Pakistan Army, law-enforcement agencies (LEAs) and intelligence agencies to eradicate terrorism,” he had added. “Our successful war against terrorism will continue till end of last terrorist.
