A modern forensic laboratory will be established in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a modern forensic laboratory will be established on the pattern of Sindh and Punjab. The laboratory equipped with modern equipment will consist of 26 kanals of land where all kinds of facilities and equipment will be available like other laboratories of the country.
According to the document, the State of Art Forensic Laboratory will be built in Peshawar at a cost of 97 thousand 486 million rupees in a short period of 3 years, for which 486 million rupees will be spent on 26 kanals of land. 10% of the funds will be provided by the provincial government while the rest of the funds will be spent by donors.
According to the document, the state-of-the-art lab will conduct investigations and research in 14 different fields. After the establishment of this modern lab in Peshawar, district labs will be established in other districts of the province in the same manner.
According to the document, the established lab will provide facilities to the police, NAB, anti-corruption, excise and customs departments. According to sources, the provincial government has also approved 833 million rupees for the establishment of the laboratory in the last cabinet meeting.
According to the sources, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Interior Department has started work on the purchase of crime scene van, National DNA Index System, Data Center, Backup System, Fingerprint Identification System and other things for the establishment of lab. According to the document, there is no laboratory equipped with modern facilities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, so tests of the province are sent to Punjab, due to which not only the test results are delayed but also the investigation is delayed.
