The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government rejected the proposal to increase BRT fares
The Caretaker Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has rejected the Finance Departments proposal to increase BRT fares. According to the sources, the finance department has proposed to increase the fares of BRT and impose tax on shops in the vicinity. The Finance Ministry had said that the government is giving Rs 2 billion subsidy to the BRT annually, increasing the BRT fare by Rs 5 and taxing the shops around the BRT corridor, increasing the fares and taxes. This will make BRT a profitable venture. The finance department said that students, women, old and disabled should be given discount on rent. On the other hand, the Caretaker Information Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Feroze Jamal said that the people of the province are suffering from financial difficulties, rent cannot be increased in the situation of inflation. They want to give relief to the people, so don not accept the suggestions because the people are already suffering from inflation.
