Top TTP commander involved in womens flogging killed
In an intelligence-based operation, security forces have successfully eliminated a former commander of the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Swat group, known as Naik Muhammad, also operating under the alias ‘Naiko.’
The operation, jointly conducted by the Pakistan Army and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), took place in Fizaghat, located within the Swat Valley, radio Pakistan reported.
The deceased terrorist commander had close affiliations with the former TTP Swat Chief, Mullah Fazalullah. Furthermore, he held the grim distinction of heading a group responsible for the public flogging of women during the early days of militancy.
Notably, the terrorist commander was involved in numerous acts of terrorism against security forces. Following an operation in Swat, Naik Muhammad had managed to evade capture and had sought refuge in Afghanistan, accompanied by his family.
In June 2023, this terrorist commander orchestrated a brutal attack on police personnel near the Mingora Vegetable Market. Additionally, he had devised plans for targeting the District Police Officer (DPO) of Swat through suicide attacks and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).”
