Polio vaccine is mandatory for people coming from Afghanistan
In order to control the spread of polio virus from Afghanistan, it has been decided to make polio vaccination mandatory for people coming to Pak-Afghan borders and children accompanying them.
Sources said that 2 cases of polio have been reported this year and 27 positive environmental samples have been reported from the sewage system of Peshawar, Hangu, Karachi and Lahore.
Polioviruses have been confirmed in environmental samples and the polioviruses coming from these cities have been genetically matched to the polioviruses present in Afghanistan in this context on the Pak-Afghan Torkham border and from Afghanistan coming from the Chaman border in Balochistan.
Polio vaccination of resident people will be made compulsory and vaccination record of children in Afghanistan will also be checked
