Precious gems worth crores of rupees recovered at Torkham border
Customs Appraisal at Torkham border recovered valuable gems worth crores of rupees during the search from the import cargo vehicle. The customs personnel took the coal along with the driver cargo vehicle into custody and registered a case.
According to Collector Customs Appraisal Muhammad Ashfaq, the customs authorities recovered 71 kg of precious stones, including Kunzite, Green Spodumene and Scapolite, hidden in the secret compartments of the vehicle.
According to Collector Customs Muhammad Ashfaq, the value of the exported gems is 40.5 million rupees. Customs personnel arrested the truck driver and registered a case. Customs officials started an investigation.
According to the authorities, apart from the seized precious stones, the seized items include coal worth 1,000,000, a cargo vehicle worth 5,000,000. According to customs officials, the total value of the case is 411 million.
