Polio campaign in the country starting today, 7 crore children will be vaccinated
Anti-polio campaign will be conducted in 159 districts of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
During the polio campaign, more than 40 million children will be vaccinated against polio.
Officials say parents should vaccinate their children to protect them from disabilities because the decision has to be made today, if the child is to walk tomorrow.
According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Secretary Health Mahmood Aslam, a 7-day anti-polio campaign is underway in 29 districts of the province from today, which will be conducted in two phases.
He said that the first phase will take place from November 27 to December 3, while the second phase of the campaign will begin from December 4, during which more than 74 lakh children will be given polio shots.
Secretary Health said that 31 thousand teams have been formed for the campaign while more than 50 thousand security personnel have been appointed.
Mehmood Aslam said that 3 cases have been reported from Bannu, which is a big challenge and a special plan has been created for the places where the cases were reported, but instead of taking action against the refusing parents, they are working on their minds.
