For first time in history of tribal districts, a woman is included in the reconciliation council
For the first time in the history of merging districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a Reconciliation Council (DRC) was established in Khyber district to resolve disputes.
For the first time in the history of tribal districts, a 21-member reconciliation council was established in Khyber district to resolve mutual disputes.
For the first time in the long Jirga history of tribal districts, a woman has been included as a Jirga/Council member.
The swearing-in ceremony was held at Lindi Kotal Jirga Hall. District Police Officer Saleem Abbas Kalachi administered the oath to the DRC members.
Addressing ceremony, DPO Saleem Abbas said that Dispute Resolution Council has been established on the orders of IG Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Akhtar Hayat. In which the undisputed dignified and honest personalities of the area have been included.
He said that it is a matter of pride that a woman is also included in this council and the establishment of this council (DRC) will help in quick resolution of issues related to women including civil cases, transaction disputes.
However, affordable justice will be provided to the tribals at their doorsteps, which will play a fundamental role in establishing peace and eliminating crime.
Amina Afridi, the only female member of the DRC Council, addressed the event and said that women from tribal districts have now become part of the regular Jirga or DRC.
Time has come to end deprivation of women in tribal districts.
Amina Afridi said that while living in DRC, she will use all her abilities to solve all the problems related to women.
He thanked IG Police Akhtar Hayat Khan for setting up DRC and making womens participation in it a reality.
